What is Tugboat?
Tugboat literally means ‘Tugboat’ and is one of the most famous and popular diving locations in Curaçao.
This small wreck is named after the tug that sank by accident about 30 years ago.
The wreck is about five meters underwater, making it the perfect snorkel and dive spot.
Because the water at Tugboat is very clear, you can see it well when you snorkel.
When you enter the water at Tugboat Beach, you will see several steel buoys in the sea.
Just past these buoys, you will find the tugboat.
It is about a 50-meter swim from the coast.
This swim to the tugboat is a special experience, but once you arrive at the Tugboat itself you will be amazed!
The boat rises almost to the surface of the water and the top is only five meters away.
With the sunlight shining through underwater, giving you an even better view of the wreck and schools of fish swimming through the windows and doors of the wreck, Tugboat is an enchanting discovery!
The fish here are fairly used to divers and snorkelers, so they don’t immediately swim away when you come close.
This allows you to view the fish well and, for example, collect unique images. But not only will you see fish there but also pipe eels and octopuses here!
Snorkeling Tugboat Curaçao
On the right side of Tugboat Beach, you have a dock station where usually a large ship is stationed for maintenance.
The dock area to the right and the bay itself have scattered a lot of industrial waste such as a large chain, a huge anchor,
ruined old docks and pilings, and other items.
Here you can also enjoy great snorkeling and diving because these objects have been there for years,
they have become part of the fish habitat.
